GOALS FOR SAINT BERNARDINE OF SIENA CHILDREN’S CENTER & ACTIVITIES DESIGNED TO ACHIEVE THESE GOALS

 

This is a list of our partial goals and activities we hope to achieve in our class by the end of the school year. Please remember that not all children learn or mature at the same rate. Your child will be able to experience these by using all five of their senses. Each child is a unique individual and grows and learns on his or her own table.

1. To give the children a sense of god and his love for us.

- Let the children see what a wonderful world God has given us.

- The children will be able to realize that all nature (people,plants and
   animals) are the gifts of a loving God. They will understand that the
   greatest gifts of love is Jesus Christ.

- Begin to learn about their church traditions.

 

2. Help develop independent living skills.

- Using a cubby

- Using toilet

- Washing hands

- Cleaning up own mess

- Picking up toys

- Following school rules

- Working with others

- Dressing

- Pouring own juice/milk

 

3. Language deveopment (oral & receptive)

- Reading/telling stories

PRE-K GOALS & OBJECTIVES

 

The following is a list of some of the goals and objectives that we hope your child will achieve while at our preschool.  Please keep in mind that not all children progress at the same level.  Therefore, these goals and objectives are meant to serve only as a guideline.

 

1. Recognize names.

2. Print first and last name.

3. Rote spell name.

4. Cut straight and wavy lines and simple shapes.

5. Recognize and understand number concepts 1-20

6. Print numerals 1-20.

7. Rote count to 100.

8. Can identify basic geometric shapes such as triangle, square, rectangle, circle, diamond, oval, heart, star and octagon.

9. Can give the properties of basic geometric shapes.

10. Able to color within the lines.

11. Will demonstrate the fine motor skills age-appropriate (in printing, cutting, coloring, dot to dot, etc. )

12. Identify colors

13. Identify letters of the alphabet (both upper and lowercase).

14. Print upper and lowercase letters.

15. Know phonetic sounds of the letters or alphabet.

16. Master gross motor skills age-appropriate (hop, skip, jump, pumping, gallop, throw and catch a ball/bean bag).

17. Identify body parts.

18. Visual discrimination.

19. Use left to right progression.

20. Demonstration of proper use of ordinary numbers.

21. Use of appropriate terms of common items.

22. Can sequence 4 or more events.

23. Categorize objects.

24. Able to recognize sets that are equal, greater or less than.

25. Auditory discrimination using rhyming words.

26. Able to make patterns, classify items and graph.

27. Have basic knowledge of opposites.

28. Have a basic concept of the bible and church traditions.

29. Can respond to (Who, What, When, Where, Why and How) questions?

30. Has basic knowledge of number sets, addition, and subtraction.

GOALS & OBJECTIVES- 3 YEAR OLDS

 

The following is a list of some of the goals and objectives that we hope your child will achieve while at our preschool.  Please keep in mind that not all children progress at the same level.  Therefore, these goals and objectives are meant to serve only as a guideline.

 

1. Recognize names.

2. Recognize and understand number concepts 1-10.

3. Rote count to 25.

4. Can identify basic geometric shapes such as triangle, square, rectangle and circle.

5. Demonstrate age-appropriate fine motor skills (in grasping crayon(s), holding scissors, cutting, and puzzles.)

6. Identify 10 Colors.

7. Demonstrate age-appropriate gross motor skills (hop, jump, gallop, tip toe, pedal, pumping, throw and catch a ball/bean bag).

8. Identify body parts.

9. Use of appropriate terms for common items.

10. Can sequence two or three events.

11. Categorize objects.

12. Have simple knowledge of opposites and rhyming.

13. Following two or more simple directions.

14. Visual discrimination (basic level).

15. Have a basic concept of the Bible and church traditions.

16. Have a basic knowledge of patterns, classifying & graphing.

17. Increase child’s attention span.

18. Able to have discussions one on one and in a group setting.

19. Has beginning concept of pre-writing and pre-reading skills.

20. Able to share and wait his/her turn.
